Just testing
Lens: SMC FA 24-90mm IF & AL Camera: PENTAX K-1 Photo Location: Sydney
Posted By: Schraubstock, 05-11-2017, 04:47 AM

I acquired this lens from a pawn shop a few years ago, I think I forked out some $70.00 for it. I didn't know anything about this lens. While I have used it several times with the K-3, I never mounted it on the K-1.

I happened to be in Sydney and decided to take this lens along to give it a go. Being in the neighborhood at Darling Harbor I took these pictures. I think the old lens acquitted itself pretty well.

The last Picture here would be a challenge for any lens. I had to shield the sun with my used boarding pass from the morning and I think it worked well enough.

Cheers

Looks like 70 bucks well spent to me. I really like the second photo, BTW.

Thanks for posting your approval.
I think from now on I will take this lens more often when going on short day trips where taking photos is not the main objective. The lens is small and light with a very usable 24-90 range and IQ is nothing to complain about. Build quality is a bit on the poor side though.

I have learned when Pawn shops have any sort of Pentax gear on offer it will always be priced lower because it is not so popular. I have picked up some good Pentax lenses for next to nothing in the past.

Thanks again

Thanks,

I don't remember, but the shop is in Chapel St, Prahran (Melbourne) close to the Prahran Market.

There was another Pawn Shop in Swan St. Richmond where I purchased a Pentax FA 1:2.8 50mm Macro for Au$50.00 in 2011. But the shop is not there anymore.

Cheers
