Abstract ditch weed

I was mowing the road ditch yesterday before the storms rolled in

down amongst the ticks and poison ivy I found this gem
they only show up every couple of years if it's wet enough

Almost looks like a member of the Iris family... or maybe even an Orchid, great capture.

it is an iris

they just showed up after a drought five or six years ago
usually the ditch just has jewelweed that seems to pair with poison ivy
so as I said these are a real treat
