My resident Ruby Throated Hummingbird and friends return every year in the Boston area. Last year I got a partial banding number (977) and just today it looks like the same number. The last shot is from last year..--charliezap

Yeah, they return to the same area if it's good. It's absolutely astonishing birds can do this.

Hello, yes I confirm that they return to the same place for years. I live in Quebec, Canada and they are back around May 15th every year and they know where the "drinks" are... Nice photos.

Ours returned the same weekend as the orioles and kingbirds. I presume they return to the same spots as well, I wonder if they know each other?

The young male hummingbirds often perch near our dogs and talk to them. It's really amusing since the dogs barely notice the hummingbirds.

Great shots, Capn. We used to get these characters in droves, but I can't remember seeing any here in a very long time.
