Was watching the Mourning Doves in the backyard today and this one getting up to the birdbath seems to have lost its footing.

Yes, they do sometimes miscalculate. The funniest one I saw recently was a mob of kangaroos going flat out down a fence line to avoid me (who presented no threat anyway) when one of the smaller ones decided to go back the other way. The big kangaroo behind it was in "mid hop" and the tips of its toes tripped on the back of the smaller animal. SPLAT! One of those photos you can never get. Better to wait beside a bird bath.

I could hope that's what it was doing. Thanks for the comment!

I can only hope this won't be my last catch of the day. I was inside with tripod and camera scanning the backyard. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Tom. I wasn't even sure it would be in focus until I got it on the computer. Usually, I miss focus on these types of photos. Today I got lucky.

Mar, what a perfectly timed shot. Composition, clarity and selective focus. Very impressive.

It's a very nice shot. Background is great. She could be politely raising her hand to let you know her bath water is low.

Thanks for the compliment! She could have been flailing her arms trying to get her balance, too.

You know that. I know that. But there's no need to embarrass the poor thing.

I really don't think she cares. She finally got her balance and a nice drink too.

A very nice shot of a beautiful bird. We recently were given a bird bath very similar to this one. I need to patch a crack in the bottom before I can put it to use though.

I think it was signalling to the pitcher. Good shot too.

This is a nice shot (not that the first one wasn't). Nice clarity. That Vivitar and TC works well.
