A few leftover birds for my last post......
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 08-15-2008, 08:05 PM

.....before I leave on my roadtrip to the East Coast on Tuesday.

I'll post a few pictures here and there during the trip but won't do a lot of processing on the road. Last year I had to redo most of it after I got back home, my laptop just does not produce good color or contrast. I plan to be back home in the last week of October.

Female House finch

House Finch (male)

House Sparrows

House Sparrow (immature)

House Sparrow

American Goldfinch

All with K10D and Bigma

The Great Goldfinch hunt

Heinrich,

I've yet to get a great shot of the elusive finch but I'm getting closer. This is the best from today. A bit out of focus but he didn't stay put for long. They are a challenge!!!

Hi Tom, they can be a challence allright but sooner or later you'll nail one. Is this from from a tripod or handheld? That lens does render nice colors though.

Take care, Heinrich

Heinrich,

Thanks - I think the old K 300 is up to the job if I do my part. I'm a big fan of the K series lenses. I find I can't hand hold this lens for this particular application. Even with shake reduction I need some kind of support. I was using a monopod for this one. I'll take the tripod and camp out for a while next time. You've set the bar pretty high Heinrich. Goldfinches are a challenge but it will be all the sweeter when I finally get the shot.

Cheers,

Tom G

Thank you Scott. Goldfinches where few and far inbetween this summer, in our area anyway. I saw this one and one more and that was it.

Take care,
