A few leftover birds for my last post......
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 08-15-2008, 08:05 PM

.....before I leave on my roadtrip to the East Coast on Tuesday.

I'll post a few pictures here and there during the trip but won't do a lot of processing on the road. Last year I had to redo most of it after I got back home, my laptop just does not produce good color or contrast. I plan to be back home in the last week of October.

Female House finch

House Finch (male)

House Sparrows

House Sparrow (immature)

House Sparrow

American Goldfinch

All with K10D and Bigma

Comments are always welcome

Very nice Heinrich. I'm jealous of that Goldfinch shot in particular. I've been trying to get a good shot of one of these fellows all summer but so far that shot has eluded me.

Sounds like there are plenty of us Goldfinch seekers around.

But I have to say my favorite of the bunch is the House Finch (male) with the messy mouth. =-)

Good birding shots. Good to see shots like these around here still. I am so deprived of these motivations to hunt them down these days.

Enjoy your Easter road trip!

Thank you Tom and you are right , they don't sit still very long and this year I have not seen very many neither.

Thank you Tom, this year there are not many to be seen in our area and this was the only one that I even got a shot at.

Take care,

Thanks for looking and commenting. As far as the goldfinch go this year we seem to be spending more time seeking than looking at them.

Take care,

Thank you LaRee but now you are making me blush. I had mixed feelings when I put the money down for Bigma but now I'm glad that I did.

Beautiful... what else needs to be said? BTW, the shot of the feeding bird and bird(s) is wonderful - top notch Heinrich!!

How much of a crop did you have on these images? The EXIF shows 500mm, and ISO 100, so I am guessing it some, given their size. This clearly shows the strength of the K10D at this ISO - it's almost phenomenal. Even a heavy crop is very clean, if the subject is in focus.

Again, just curious, and I really, really enjoyed the images!!!!

Regards,
Marc

Hi Marc and thank you. Here are the full frames of the first two images.

The second one is quite a crop and still looks reasonable.

Take care,
