My first portrait, and a macro at that
Posted By: jamonation, 08-15-2008, 08:48 PM

Ok, so it's more macro than portrait, but I am captivated by the happy expression of this brass paperweight. Used my Asahi Pentax bellows at 150mm and Takumar 200mm f4 lens on the kitchen table.

Love the texture of the statue.

Not a macro but a close up shot.

Very nice shot with very careful DOF and a nice complementary background. I like it a lot.

Thanks for the feedback all, I desaturated the image by about 40% since the original was much more of a bronze colour, and the darker areas had a blue tinge that I didn't like. Will have to try some more today with direct sunlight

I guess it is sort of somewhere in between then being not quite 1:1. The process is the same though, set focus to infinity, move the whole apparatus a couple inches at a time until the object is in focus. Even at f8 the depth of field is really shallow, much shallower than at f4 without the bellows.

Here's one from this morning in direct sunlight, slight unsharp mask since focus was off just a wee little bit, and this at f4 instead of 5.6 like yesterday's.
