Finally, I took out my k20d for a walk with a friend today. The weather turned fine in the afternoon which was kind of headache with the lighting.

Some shots to share and I am soooo clumpsy with the buttons on the camera these days. Really sad that my only hobby can be so easily forgotten in 2 months time.

All used Fa 31mm ltd f1.8

B+W

Make him appear a bit taller

The old richmond area can be quite colourful and industrial. The area filled with drug addicts and refugees.

Nokton - out of focus all the time for me...

I really like the first one (b+w); conveys character a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes, it is better not to ask the subject to pose. It turns out better that way.

Nice series,
I like the first one, I really think that in portrait you just can't top well done B&W...
the last one from FA31 series, would look great in B&W too IMHO...
anyway, nice series, I wish I could take portraits like that...

These are really nice portraits James. Your friend is a handsome man. The first is my favorite, but the 4th is very close. Like I said, they are all well done. I like when I feel like I know the subject better aftering viewing portraits. These work that way for me. Good work.

Number one is truly a winner - reminds me of the early '60's or late '50's. I'm just waiting for the subject to jump in to a chopped '49 Mercury.

If this is rusty, then I think you'll be more than fine...

I do like #1 the most, and #4 is a close second. Sort of James Dean - ish style shots...

Cheers,
Marc

You are right. I think I was more concerned about leaving out the colour rendition of Fa 31 ltd. However, simplicity might be the key.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would definitely try it out.

Thanks, LaRee. I am sure he would be very glad to hear this, studying aviation and quite a gourmet himself. I learnt more about someone after doing protraits actually.

Jeremy. I am suffering low income and poverty at the moment. Any retro luxury classics is probably way beyond me. But thank you for adding such great insight into the series.

Thank you for visiting! These are shots for the last 2 years photos. Pity that I had not converted all the snapshots altogether to compile some sort of port folio but I think the exercise is great when I grow a lot older.

For protraits, it needs a theme and I am struggling with the concept

Marc, you have been kind. Yeah, the theme was not decided until the shoot itself.

Funnily we ended up eating spring rolls to end the shoot. Not very James Dean. Hehe

Glad that you like it. B+W seems not a bad choice here. Hehe

Neil

Nearly there. It was shot in North Richmond.

I am going to do a shoot in Collingwood next Saturday.

BTW, you wanna join us to taste festival for the coming weekend?
