Old Man on Highland
Posted By: Xiaomao Yang, 06-21-2017, 07:16 PM

The Red-earth highland is a photogenic place at Dongchuan, Yunnan, China. The old man and his friend were lit by the sunlight that shone and disappeared instantly because of the fast moving clouds on the highland.
Thanks for looking!

Fantastic portrait. I get the sense of a lot of wisdom and experience coming through.
Hi, Jonathan, thanks for looking and your comment. The old man has 5 children who have all left the village where he lives and are working in other cities, but he seems to enjoy the sunlight, fresh air and simple life in his hometown.
Regards!

Hello, Kerrowdown, thank you for stopping by and the comment.
They have been good companions for years no matter how hard the living conditions on the dry, windy and cold highland are.
Best regards.

Thanks for visiting!
Yes, the old man is well-known for his characteristic facial and dressing appearances of the highland which is windy, sunny and dry.

What a fantastic photograph. What I get from this photo is that he more than likely did not have much going for him as far as being a high-powered executive somewhere in Beijing. Instead he became a part of his environment and surroundings by working the land left to him by his ancestors. I believe when he meets his Maker, he will simply say, "I did the best I could with what you gave me." I have to say I love the expression the dog has. Wonderful photography here.
