Rose in Hiding, River Plants at the Shore

Let me know if you think the composition is good bad or indifferent please. On the second picture with the underwater plants, it was shot at 1/100s, f9, and ISO 200. No PP other than small crops on both pictures before converting to jpg.
Thanks for looking and honest comments are always welcome.( I know there is a thread for critique but as a complete and total noob I am comfy here!)

I'd digging these--if they're sharp (hard to tell at Web sizes) I'd definitely put the files somewhere safe and work on them as your PP skills evolve. To get a feel for what is possible, you might put an S-curve on both images for a bit more contrast (down the line, "luminosity masks" will give you a bit more control).

Thanks for the feedback CreationBear! They were sharp as DNG and jpg before uploading. I have been using Pencilsheep, which is free, but haven't sat down to watch videos. I also have Raw Therapee and profiles to play with but yard work has kept me from playing with that also.
I will explore your suggestion on masks though. Thanks again.
