Playing with a New Lens
Lens: FA 43/1.9 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: My Yard
Posted By: Sailor, 07-10-2017, 06:04 PM

To accompany my FA 31 and FA 77 - which I've owned for the last few years - I ordered and just received an FA 43 - something I need considerably less than a pogo stick.

Here are some of the first pics I tried out in the yard this late afternoon. The first two were shot at f/2.8; the 3rd and 4th at f/2; all were cropped considerably.

It seems to work well as the images are sharp even though cropped..... I'd keep it.

Not exactly a macro, but the shots have a wow factor.

I have to agree with Eaglem and Trev. Very nice shots.
It is also nice to see your pictures available again. Have you re-uploaded all of the PB shots yet?

Thanks, EM. Yeah, it seems to perform well enough to suit me.

Thanks much, Trev. I don't plan to use this little guy for macro (I've got a DFA 100 I've had for years), but I wanted to check out how sharp the 43 is wide open and at f/2.8. I once had an FA 50/1.4 which was totally useless wide open and only barely useful at f/2. I think the 43 is sharp enough at f/2, at least for my bleary old eyes.

I appreciate the kind words very much.

I'm afraid reloading all the PB shots would be a herculean task - one for which I'm much too lazy. I do think I may repost some shots I took at Porsche Concours in February, several of which posted a few months ago. I'm finding that photos posted via a Flickr do a much better job of retaining at least part of the richness of K-1 images than was the case with PB. Could be my imagination, but I don't think so.
