A face of story teller
Posted By: roentarre, 08-18-2008, 01:39 AM

On the weekend, I had a chance to take street candid photographs with Voe.

The occasion was great given there were so many opportunities for candids.

This elderly man was talking with an extremely deep voice on the phone. The lighting makes him like a prophet.

The shot was taken with Fa * 80-200 f2.8 on k20d. I put a black gradient gradient on the right to decrease the distraction.

Brilliant shot, james, absolutely stunning. I hope we dont have a Monthly competition, "Men/Man with Beard". Its over before it starts
I had not participated in the competition for quite a while and I think there are quite a number of excellent photographers in the forum. My chance is pretty slim.

With that topic, I guess there will be photographs of lions with mane.

That's a lovely shot, James. Really dig the lighting, I'd love to get a shot like this someday.

Thanks This shot does generate quite a few responses. Really glad that some shots do turn out differently just because of lighting

You did more winner shots than mine and you are too humble for this. Good to see many people still hang around the forum!

This was a fluke shot. Thanks for your viewing

Obviously the right photographer was in the right place at the right time and knew what to do!

Looks like Gandalf calling Bilbo Baggins.

Cool shot - thanks for sharing.

Brilliant! I especially like your use of the gradient. It absolutely adds to the drama, yet, to an untrained eye, it's not obvious that you used it. Bravo.

Captivating, James.
Low-key candid portraiture at its best.
I love it!

To me, this photo shows your skill very, very well. There are several things involved with any photo, including timing/luck/skill, etc... obviously skill and knowledge will give the greatest advantage many situations. Besides, the smart photographers only show their best images - do you think every shot they take is a keeper??

OK, off my soapbox...

This was a fluke shot. <snip>
Fluke? Perhaps...

Personally I think that serendipity was with you.... Just in case it isn't already clear, I am very impressed with this shot - and so was Sharon.

Take a bow James - well done!!!

Regards,
Marc

Seen many good pictures on this form, along with a couple of great shots... This one is in the 2-3 that you should be very proud of. Excellent shot and PPG will be happy to post.... Thanks for sharing and makes one want to hopefully post as good a picture one day! Awesome James. JIMBO
