Always wonderful to spend a long summer evening in nature after a long day's work. Had a quick bite and got on my bike for a ride through the beautiful sanddune and beach area between Egmond and Bergen (GPS in images) where the semi-wild Konik horses roam freely.

Fascinating reticulating patterns on the horse in the foreground--I wonder if they're some sort of atavistic remnant of a wild horse's camouflage? At any rate, a great set--I thought at first "Bergen" referred to Bergen op Zoom in the south (site an unfortunate incident in the War of Austrian Succession) but that's more cheerful country.

Looks like a great place to cruise around on a bike. Nice series of shots. Horses look good and healthy.
