This kite's dinner has stopped wriggling.

K-S2, Sigma 150-500mm. Point Cook Coastal Reserve.

Didn't even notice the mouse until I got home and did this crop.

Thanks, Josh. Yes, if someone says to you, "We've lost touch, our culture is manufactured these days, we should take our cues from Nature", you can reply, "But don't animals bite each others' heads off?"

Another excellent capture Ian. That kite has one helluva death stare going at you. You must have had a " hungry " look on your face.

Yeah, in my experience, predators know when they themselves are being hunted (even with a camera).

Looks to me like he's got a mouse and a small bird.

I think it's a mouse on its back with the hind legs and tail towards us?

Fierce looking creature. Nice catch! (Both you and the bird...) This spring I filmed a bird that lowered itself on what looked like a nest. But I couldn't make that out on the back screen of my K-3. Only when I started editing the material a few weeks ago I noticed the two small chicks on the big screen. The details we can catch with our camera's (and lenses) can be really surprising be it photo or video.

Love the shot! Great when you get the birds looking at you, eh? Even though he's turned away you still got the shot! Nice!

Yeah, it's a Black Shouldered Kite, so you do want a good look at it if possible, it's species defining.
