Caudill Cabin/Basin Creek and Cove
Lens: Sigma 24mm Super Wide II Camera: K-01 Photo Location: Wilkes/Alleghany Counties, NC,USA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/80s Aperture: F8

A bit further south on the Blue Ridge Parkway from the Brinegar Cabin slowpez recently posted and 1500 feet below the Doughton Park ridge lies the remnants of the Caudill cabin which remains as the only survivor from the 1916 Basin Creek/Cove flood which washed away homes, farmland, and victims. What was once lush valley farmland is now trail accessible from the basin almost six miles south on a winding and rocky path alongside 20+ stream and branch crossings and waterfalls up to the cabin. A great day hike for four of us almost seventy somethings.

Us almost 80 somethings have more sense.
Like the cabin location. All that green surrounding it is really nice. Hadn't heard of the cabin before. TFS.
