Blue hour abstract at Mesquite Dunes
Posted By: The Madshutter, 08-31-2017, 02:54 AM

Beautiful Mesquite Dunes, in Death Valley (USA), are always a great source of inspiration for me and lend themselves to long exposure abstract images perfectly. Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards

Vieri

Hi Vieri, Beautiful shot, love the simplicity.
I hope to be there in a few weeks. Staying in Las Vegas for a few nights and if the weather is kind the plan is to drive out there. I have been there once before, travelling with others so it was more of a drive through...so I am aware of the distances and travel times involved.
This time I am with a group of photographers....what would you say is the best time to visit the Mesquite Dunes....sunrise or sunset ? I am hoping sunset but if you tell me sunrise then I will get the group organised for an early start.
Really appreciate any advice you may care to share.

I'd go to Mesquite at sunset, especially if you plan to go to DV for the day. Leaving Vegas in time for sunrise, accounting for the time you'll need to navigate the dunes, would mean... not going to bed, basically Hope this helps, and enjoy your time in DV!

Best regards,

Vieri

Excellent detail and the blue hues are nice compliment to the light sands. I was at the great sand dunes earlier this summer, but struggled greatly with the extreme wind conditions and cloudless days. On a good day you get a very similar feel to this and it is so peaceful.
