Nice abstract. Love the vibrant colors and texture. Another great example of how a macro lens can give interest to an otherwise mundane object. Well done.

I wish! It's cochineal, a natural colouring agent used in this household for tinting the icing on cakes. TFL.

Many thanks. Yes, it's a different world up close. I find the SMC-A 50mm macro is sharp and also very versatile for ordinary walk-around situations.

First thought was this was a photo of a slide under a microscope of some strange kitchen science experiment. Definitely a pretty cool shot.
