Wow ! DOF is super critical ! There is just so little of it ... You can see the DOF on the spiders legs , there is only a few mm ..

This is really hard !

Welcome to my world! I often use a reversed 8mm movie lens on extension. I do a lot of shooting at night around our front porch lights. Live view image is grainy and dark, but with persistance, I usually get the shot. Slow moving subjects are much easier to shoot; active insects are much harder! But, it's all part of the fun. Good shots are very rewarding.

Yeah, it's a jumper for sure. Second one is missed focus, for me (closest eye OOF). But the first shot is a total hit, IMHO.
