Red-necked wallaby - mother and baby enjoying breakfast
Lens: Sigma 18-200/f3.5-5.6 DC II HSM Camera: K-01 Photo Location: Mosquito Creek, Queensland Australia ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F8

With very little rain over the last few months (and not a drop since 3 August) everything is turning to dust and the kangaroos and wallabies are scratching for a feed. This red-necked wallaby hangs around trying to get into the house yard so I have been giving her a ration of kurrajong leaves each day to keep her (and baby) going. The joey came out of the pouch in the last week but is very wary of me when she comes to be fed. The pics tell the story.

Mum comes to be fed. Little one is interested but staying very close. The bloke with the camera is a bit scary.

Little one decides the leaves are OK.

Yes, these leaves are definitely OK.

But now it has had a few leaves the joey decides that the bloke with the camera is still too scary. She won't let it back in the pouch so the baby can only go to Mum to hide its face now. It was a very dull morning (supposedly rain in the way - hooray!!) but a bit of sun came out and blew out the lighting on the mother's head and shoulders for this last shot.

Thanks for looking and commenting. Our rain turned out to be just 8mm over two days. No visible effect. But one day .....
