bonfires on the levees

Christmas eve in St. James parish LA. The locals set bonfires on the levees of the Mississippi river. Some say it is to lead Papa Noel into the children of New Orleans. Others say it harkens back to plantation days so everyone knows where the party is happening. Either way, mix crazy cajuns, great food, fireworks, and bonfires, and you have a great celebration!
