Shooting at night without flash, just using 'found' lighting around the city. K-1, and (top to bottom): Sigma 35mm Art, FA 77 Ltd, DA*55

One of the best sets I've seen in a while--and certainly your model justifies all that bling, lens-wise.

Thanks, CB, shooting at night meant the apertures were pretty wide - f1.8 and f2.

Nice shots. I particularly like the second one.

Thanks, mate. The light tubes built into the bridge act like Ice Lights. And the traffic lights are so distant they make for good bokeh.

Clackers,
Natural like light adds character to images. Good stuff.
Is that a beer can tab on her necklace? Gift to her?

I reckon it's the letter 'B', RONC, but I like the way you think!

Beautiful work (and model!) I'm inspired to see what can be achieved using just available light in the city.

Thanks, Buberfan. Gone are the days of sodium lighting everywhere. Advertising signs in particular can put out very white light, and can be large enough to resemble a softbox.

You can even carry a folded up sheet of paper as a reflector.

As a Melbourner, the locations might be relevant to you ... from top to bottom, they're the Webb Bridge, Jim Stynes Bridge, and Southbank.

I din't know the names of the bridges, but I know all those locations well. I'll be in Melbourne for two of the weekends in November.

The middle shot is something special - that old FA77 magic! I've recently tried to match it with my FA*85, but have largely failed so far.

I'm really loving my Sigma 35 Art for environmental portraits too.

Yeah, the 35 or the FA31 are a treat for street photography. If I'm in the mood for carrying heavy stuff, I go with the Sigma.

I love the FA31 for its warmth and character, but the Sigma completely towels it for sharpness wide open, and chromatic aberrations. When you really want a subject to pop it's hard to beat.
