Well shot Nathan, I like the silhouette of the fireman (the first one).

thank you

this is one of thows times that i was let close and pritty much let shoot as i wish insted of having to stand a mile back. i could really walk around and take my time, i think i was shooting for a good 2 hr. the firefighters where just trying to keep the fire from spreading it is all that they could do.

Excellent work all of it Nathan. My artistic favourites are the bike, flag and first fireman silhouette. But as a news series, these are all excellent.

I hope you are doing well at this my friend.

Btw. A little tip I learned from an old newsman when I used to shoot this type of stuff from time to time. He said always get some shots of the crowd and those effected by the events. Their facial expressions can add a lot of impact and emotion to the series and can give it more of a human touch as well.

Nathan, thats the secret!

Take a lot of photos at fires and then print 1-2 good ones for the guys... bring the print and a CD with a bunch of photos of the fire to the station and they'll love you!

We all have a "trophy wall" in our stations with the best pics from our fires... In most cases photographers who bring us "trophies" are more thanl welcome the fire scenes.

(great pics by the way!)

Pat

Great series. You can feel the heat. You also feel for the people who lost everything inspite of the hard work of the firemen.
