Moraine Lake
Lens: Sigma 50mm EX DG Camera: K5 Photo Location: Banff National Park, Alberta

I was messing around with some photos the other day and thought I'd stack a few shots together to see what they would look like with the full HDR treatment.
Not the best but certainly not the worst I've seen.

you are right. It doesn't have that "in your face" HDR look... What a beautiful place... How did you manage not to have any tourists anywhere in this photo is what I want to know!

This was late last September which is in the slow tourist season so it was just a matter of waiting a while before everyone cleared out.

HDR is supposed to greatly increase an images "dynamic range".

Given that, how does one go about blowing out the sky (like you did in this photo) when shooting HDR? Isn't that the whole point of HDR to prevent from blowing out the highlights?

Maybe if you had shot more images at more extreme exposures on this shot you would not have had a blown out sky?

The blown out sky is the sun directly in front of me setting over the mountains. As I said "Not the best but certainly not the worst I've seen."
I'm not a fan of full blown HDR images and this is just something I was playing around with.

Have you compared in camera HDR with post processing HDR?
