Pukaskwa National Park....
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 08-25-2008, 05:32 PM

....is located on Lake Superior and today I spent the better part of five hours hiking some of it's trails. I took a bunch of photos and will post a few here but they can not do justice to this magnificent landscape of Lake Superior.

This one is from yesterday. took it at Pebble Beach in Marathon, Ontario.

The rest is from today in Pukaskwa National Park

On the trail

Youíre right Dave. Those who havenít driven the north shore of Superior and across the prairies have no idea how big this country is. No, I'm not forgetting the E. and W. coasts but the bit in the middle goes on forever. I lived in NW Ontario for a while Heinrich. That country has hard bones as illustrated by your fine images. All it needs is a few blackfly shots to complete the experience.

I like them Heinrich. The first one took a long time to load and initially I only saw the sky and just a little water, no waves. First I thought "Heinrich has gone minimalist" and I really 'dug' it.
Finally the whole shot loaded and it was very good but I still liked that minimalist image that I first saw.

The second and third from bottom are great. They are so warm, peaceful and really convey a sense of place.

Thank you Tom and you are right about the middle, takes foreever to get through Ontario. As for the blackflies, wish you hadn't mentioned it, We lived In Toronto for 20 years and used to fish walleye opening on White Lake, oh man they used to be bad.

Take care,

Hi Mike and thank you. It was peaceful, there was hardly anyone else around during the whole hike I didn't see another ten people.

Take care,
