Eagles and Snowy Owl
Posted By: palmor, 02-21-2007, 07:54 AM

Hi all,
Went out last weekend and mananged to get some closer shots of a Snowy Owl and some more Bald Ealge shots. One of these days the Owl will come real close (keeping fingers crossed) .

Comments/Suggestions always welcome

All shots take with the Sigma 70-200 EX f2.8 with a Sigma 2xTC.

First an Eagle eating his lunch:

I was wondering if he was eye'ing me for dessert

Then I got one just as the sun was setting flying over the River:

And now the Snowy:

Great Snow Owl pics! Well, the eagle ones are nice too, but I especially like the owl ones. Fortunately the eagles are coming back, so pictures of them are more common now. The snowy owl is a rare treat.

Yeah, we are pretty lucky (in the winter at least). There are close to a dozen Eagles that come down the Merrimack River in the Newbury Port, MA area in the winter. There is this one road that runs along the river and they just love the trees above the road. So basically you can just sit there and wait for an Eagle to land in a tree, walk underneath and snap the photo.

The owl picts are much harder to come by, since the refuge they are in has very limited foot access (maybe a half dozen or so trails).

Wonderful pictures. We don't seem to have any eagles or owls around my neck of the woods, so I really enjoy seeing your pictures. Thanks for sharing!

These are very nice. I don't take photos like this . . . . because I can't. I'm lousy at it. It's fun to see the results of someone who knows what he's doing.
