Lens: Pentax-FA 50mm f:2.8 Macro Camera: K-50 Photo Location: Idaho ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F11

This old truck looks like it had spent many long days in the field until they abandoned it in this corner of the field. The FA-50mm Macro lens seems to pick up any little reflection from the sun and convert it to a starburst more than any lens I've ever seen. Case in point, the small one dead center of the hood ornament.

Very nice picture. Takes me back to my farm days. Incidentally, I think the broken window (passenger windshield) with it's interesting patterns would make some interesting closeups for your 50 macro.

Looks like an old cornbinder. We used to have an old IH similar to this, that we used as a grain truck on the farm. It had originally been a municipal dump truck, but did a good job as a grain truck, once 3/4 inch plywood sides were added to the box (to provide more volume capacity) and two heavy chains were strung across at the top of the box to reinforce. I liked driving it, not much HP, but the torque was ok and with the low gearing it was surprising how much weight it could move in the field.

These old workhorses were basic...no such thing as power steering, automatic transmissions, power brakes. After a day (and partial night) on the grain fields, I felt I had got a better workout than I could get at a gym. Particularly my right arm from shifting the transmission, my left leg from pushing the heavy clutch/ brake pedals in and both arms from the standard steering.

They were tough old birds and they worked hard on many farms for decades.

Great shot here. I like the color, sharpness, exposure and composition. Certainly has that Retro look to it. What I find fascinating is that with all the shots fired at the truck, the headlight somehow managed to remain in tact. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful photos - particularly the first one. I love the way you've framed the truck. Very cool.
