I took this shot this past summer as we drove through the countryside in County Mayo with not a lot of time to set up. There's a lot of turf (or peat) in County Mayo. A lot of work went into stacking this.

Not to mention the amount of work to cut it, turn it, heap it and then bank it.

Thanks Derek. I noticed these small groups of feed bags gathered together where turf is cut these days - for loading and unloading I suppose, maybe for selling?

Some naughty people cut 4" (100mm) off the top of the bag so you don't get quite as much as you thought you were getting and others selling it loose in trucks have been known to leave a large tractor tyre in the truck so again you don't get as much as you thought you were getting.

After a day in the bog your back knows all about it. I remember when loading it into a horse drawn cart no matter how carefully you placed the cart away from the wind you still ended up with grit in your eyes and dust everywhere else.
