Red Kite (Milvus Milvus) Over and Over Again ...
Lens: Tamron 300mm f2.8 Camera: Pentax K3-ii Photo Location: Peterborough
Posted By: Ian.morgan, 11-18-2017, 05:13 PM

About 18 months ago now, I saw my first Red Kite. Over the course of that time, my technique has been improving, and my kit has been getting more and more expensive, and my post processing has been improving.

I thought I'd share the result of some of my experiences: (Sorry that one of these might pop up in a monthly contest at some point !) . If you're a lover of Red Kites, enjoy; if not, this thread is not for you

And my personal favourites:

and

All taken handheld with a K3-ii, using a Tamron 300mm f2.8 manual focus lens, and Pentax AF 1.7x adaptor, therefore giving me a 510mm f4 autofocus lens, and arm ache. Processed in PS, with FocusMagic plug-in.
Lots more available to see on my Flickr page; I tried to pick the best.

Thanks for viewing. Which one is your favourite?

Cheers

Ian.

Too hard to pick a favourite as they are all good. Great detailed action shots.

You couldn't really pick one they are all brilliant, anybody whose ever tried shooting birds in flight would be delighted to have any one of those shots in their collection

Thank you for your kind words !

It's taken a lot of failed attempts with a lot of different lenses till I got a day where I had all the right kit with me, and where the lighting was spot on

#2 for sure! (I only added that emphasis to make the post acceptably long--which, I imagine, it now must surely be.)

I like them all a great deal but 2 and 3 are my favorites. All are extremely well done!
