Great shots. How did you get your cats to hold still, drug them? I trigger a flash and mine all leave.....

Sweet images. I love seeing good pics on cheap old lenses. Since I am a frugal guy (read tightwad), I'll have to keep the Cosina in mind when looking around.

My setup was nothing special. Flash was mounted on my k100d super body and fired upwards on manual mode (100% power, macro shots need a lot of light at least with extension tube) and I had an extension tube between the lens and body. Of course when I'm taking shots that feel important, I choose raw instead of jpeg so there's a bit more room for PP. In Gimp I did a bit of processing: curves, levels and white balance, but nothing else.

Our cats enjoy staring out of the living room window and it's a good moment to take some pics as they stay still. It's easier to take cat photos with a long lens, because then you can stay a bit further away and not disturb the cats.

With the 135/2.8 wide open the DOF is only a few millimeters long and I was waving my head back and forwards to find the correct focus. First shot was taken wide open because the black cat needs more light, 2nd was f4 or f5.6.

The most important thing in this setup is the flash, without a good light source shots like this are impossible. My af280t flash was quite cheap, so if you can't afford a new flash, look into old compatible flashes. There's no p-ttl but it works very well anyway. The extension tube makes almost every lens a macro lens and tubes cost only a few bucks.

yea the AF280T is a great manual flash. if only pentax supported TTL. probably better they don't as that would drive up the price on older flashes.
