Lens: Pentax D FA 150-450 mm Camera: Pentax K-1 Photo Location: Central California Coast

The Pentax D FA 150-450 mm is an amazing lens. True, it looks like a thermos and weighs about as much as a watermelon, but it's worth lugging this beast around. All of these shots were taken handheld, and would have looked like porridge if I'd tried the same thing with my 55-300 mm. The 1MB jpegs here unfortunately don't do the lens justice though as they're all very sharp in Lightroom.

Beautiful! Pelicans are some of my favorite birds to watch.

Thanks a lot doroth2, this was my first real go at pelicans. They're a lot of fun to shoot.

An amazing series. I especially like the bokeh in #3. Wonderful sharpness!

Do you carry any other lenses while hauling that lens around...if I have my Sigma 120-400mm with me I put a 21mm Ltd in my pocket for flexibility...very fine images.

Thanks photomax7! In this particular case, I only carried the 150-450 mm, and that's usually the case. Sometimes though I'll bring along my 24-70 mm, or maybe one other specific lens. Only rarely do I walk around with a backpack and several other lenses.
