May be the last decent day here for awhile, at least the sun was out mostly.

Pic 1 was first hawk just after sunrise giving it a golden tone.
Pic 2 is another hawk or else it was the first and he took off ahead of me
Pic 3 was a total manual focus to get that squirrel with foliage in between us(auto focus went nuts going back and forth
Pic 4 did not know porcupines climbed trees but he was 40 foot up.
Pic 5 the sun reflecting off the water and the pair of otters were black silhouettes but did the best I could in LR to pull out the image.

It was a good day cause yesterday I saw nothing what so ever.

You had a very good day indeed, just one such shot would have made my year, the bokeh behind the squirrel is fascinating. Its basically sea birds around here with Brent Geese from November to about the end of March, they mainly stay out on the estuary mud flats and are very difficult to get within range of my Tamron 70-300.

Nice shots! You have had more luck at the refuge than I have had this past year. Spent the day before deer guns season there and did not see anything, a couple of cranes. I like the hawk shots

thanks for the comments

Ted;
I was also there the day before opening day and saw nothing.
Been out there a few times since and have only seen one doe.
I just drive real slow and look all around and up.
Be surprised what you see when you slow down.
My best days are when it takes me 4+ hours to drive my loop instead of 2 hours.
Will be intersting to see what we see when the snow hits.

I drive slow as well and do lots of hiking the trails. This entire years has been slow for but I sure enjoy that area. Some day may be we can meet up there. I always pack a lunch and spend the day. It is a one hour drive for me.
