Not using flash was a good idea, it might have caused you one or two little problems like becoming next on the menu, it is a really nice shot.

Thanks Penpusher. My first thought was this was a good example of backlighting (which I do not see very often) and decided to take advantage of the opportunity. As we all know, harsh sunlight is never ideal, and with the existing light, it became a real challenge. Thanks again, appreciate your comment.

I agree, the lightning and perspective are great. Hopefully you used a lot of zoom

I'm surprised that you were able to get that close with a P&S camera. Nice capture!

At the time I could not remember the actual camera and lens. This was taken ca mid 1980s when we had been in Kenya for two and a half weeks on Safari. My best guess would be the Nikon N80008s film camera and a Nikon AFNikkor 55~300, but I couldn,t swear to it.
