This bright, sunny afternoon I finally got to use my new DA* 300 in earnest at the Texas Sea Center where I encountered this Heron.

" Earnest " works very well Jer. Would really enjoy seeing some crops of these pix ( head shots ) just to see the resolution of this excellent camera/lens combo mate.

Nice series, Jer. I think you're going to love that lens, it doesn't take long to feel comfortable with it.

A wonderfully successful encounter at that. Nice stuff Jer. I'm still chasing the elusive herons of Colorado!

Hey, thanks buddy. Actually, these are crops - I'm guess about 50-60% of the original pics was trimmed away. This guy was farther away than these pics suggest.

Thank you, and - yeah - they are cool. Don't get flustered at every little noise.

Thanks!! I played with it again today and you're right - it's one slick piece of machinery.

Thank you, Joi; I appreciate the kind words. These gray herons (I don't know the official name) around here don't spook very easily. That's why a creaky old geezer like me can get decent shots of 'em.
