Lijiang Old Town
Posted By: pop4, 08-31-2008, 12:25 AM

Here's a few shots from a visit to Lijiang Old Town, in Yunnan, China. It's a preserved old town with a history of over 800 years and is now probably a bit over-commercialized, but I enjoyed the place.

There were plenty of people carrying dSLRs around, and I noticed that apart from the big two of C&N (5Ds & L lenses, Dx00s), the other brand that I saw a lot of was Sony, and this holds true for everywhere else in China that I've been to. I guess the brand name Sony still means something to the Chinese folk.

Some great shots there mate

were these taken recently?

If so were you there for the games?

I am planning on visiting parts of China Next year.

I've been to most parts of Asia ... which I love. Everyone treats westerners so warmly

Great shots pop4 - love the nigt series - looks like that place is built for wide angle. And also looks like a popular spot given the people in your shots.

They were taking about mid-late July, and the weather there was great. Even though it was the middle of summer, it was just so relaxing and comfortable walking around, and not even breaking a sweat. I was just traveling around and not there for the Games; I decided to stay well away from Beijing. China's not a bad place to visit, and there's a lot of beautiful scenery. I look forward to seeing photos.

Cheers. I find a wide focal length really useful for crowded places like that.

Thanks, it was a pretty nice place just to chill and relax. It's a pity that I couldn't stay longer.
