Ice and Raptors

First is of the dam near my home where a nifty Ice cave has formed.
Second is a hollow (dirty) snowman. It was right at the water's edge so it must have been formed by receding melt water.
Third is a bird of prey that flew across a river as I drove over the bridge. He changed trees when I got to close the first time, this is about a 100% crop of him in the second tree. My longest lens I took today was the FA 77 Limited. Oops!

I'm fascinated with the ice cave - very cool (in more ways than one).

It is really just where the majority of the water comes over the spillway. With the warm weather we got last week (mid 40s with at least an inch of rain,) we had every lake overflowing and every stream and river creating ice dams and flooding. Since this dam has water up near the top at all times, a little rain over 6 to 8 inches of ice means a lot of neat ice formations.

I was just bummed when the bird flew where I would have had to swamp walk (Ice and bog,) to get much closer. Today he was nowhere to be seen when I had my 55-300 PLM out.
