Very nice shots. You must have got very close for these, even with cropping. The clarity of the eyes is exceptional.

Thanks, PJ, of course these birds are used to people - they're inside Healesville Sanctuary.

You can get close to some very territorial Eastern Robins in the wild.

Thanks, CJ, once you can get close to the subjects, the details come through and the background blurs nicely.

If you have to shoot from a long way away before the wildlife flees, you're cropping a lot, and bokeh-wise, you're up against it, the critter can be closer to the background than it is to you.

No wonder the guys who sit all morning in hides come up with the best pics.

'Robin' is a bit of a catch all term, I guess.

Yours is a flycatcher, the American one is a thrush, and ours (we have yellow, scarlet, pink and flame varieties) are distantly related to crows.
