Nature Dead Duck Decoy

Black Moshannon Lake (technically a bog) was finally ice free. Paddled up to the beaver dam, and thought I saw a dead duck on the edge. Turned out to be a decoy (Mallard from the looks of it). The "wound" on the side leads a certain amount of speculation

That certainly looks real - I can see how a decoy like that might attract real quacking ducks.

Black Moshannon Lake is located where the Allegheny Mountains form the Allegheny Front here in Central Pennsylvania. It's about 10 miles East of Philipsburg and is actually rated as a mountain bog. The actual water area is 250 acres and it's not much more than 4 feet deep at it's deepest. Its in the 7600 acre Black Moshannon State Park.
