This image was taken this weekend.

K10D, 2 minutes, mounted on a Celestron CG5 telescope mount. No stacking, no darks, just the single image.

In the upper right center of the shot is a yellow "star" with some haze around it - that is the Andromeda Galaxy. Also seen in the center of this image is the constellation Cassiopeia, known to some as the "W". Just below the center of the photo, is two small blue fuzzy spots, very close together. This is known as the "Double Cluster" - two star clusters very close together.

As you might guess, I have an interest in astronomy. This is my first "serious" attempt at astrophotography, taken as a test of the equipment, the mount's capability to track accurately for a length of time, the amount of hot pixels that appear after a length of time (suprisingly very few!), and Pentax's Remote assistant was used to trigger the shots.

All in all, I was very impressed. Pentax rocks!

I can't believe I waited this long to see a picture of white dots.

Seriously, I think astrophotography is really cool, I'm lucky to see a tiny fraction of those stars where I am. So much damn light pollution.
