First photos with K-70
Lens: AF Tamron 70-300mm tele-macro Camera: K-70 Photo Location: Home

I received my new(used) K-70 I purchased from a member(Thank you skinner12) Friday afternoon and spent the rest of the day and Saturday setting it up following the suggestions here on the forum. I was upgrading from my K-30. Today dawned bright and sunny so I took a walk around my neighbor's pasture and tried some test shots. The ones here were all taken in Program mode with various selections from the Control Panel. The first and last shots(dog and woman) were shot AF.S. The birds were all shot with the Pixel Shift Resolution motion correction on. A ProMaster CP filter was also used on all the shots. I'd watched a review video on utube where the reviewer mentioned a few times that the K-70 isn't particularly useful for wildlife photography, but I can't quite figure out why.

I am curious about what look like finger smears in the sky above the flying eagle (or some sort of raptor), as it condensation on your CP filter?
Nice results, I imagine you will be very happy with your K-70.

A pixelshifted flying eagle? The smears are three eagles.

A drawback with using pixel shift on moving objects?
I must read up on pixel shift before I get a body capable of it. Plenty of time I suppose before I get enough cash together.

It's a Turkey Buzzard, and you're right about the smears being the pixel shift's other 3 exposures. Actually, there was another shot of the bird, which I deleted, where I was following the bird correctly as I snapped and that didn't occur. In this shot the camera was stationary and I just shot as it came into the frame. I should have saved/displayed the other shot also. Obviously there's limitations to the motion detection mode on. It's a learning experience, and I'm having fun doing it .

You cannot use pixelshift on moving objects, it`s 4 consecutive pictures merged into one, so unless you can manage to freeze the bird, you will not succeed 😊

I just recalled I'd saved the buzzard shots in another folder. This is the next shot where I'm properly tracking the bird. As you can see there's no sign of pixel shift going on. I'm hardly advocating this as a normal practice, but it can be done .
