Bird in Flight . . . . . . . . Finally
Lens: DA* 300 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Shy Pond Park ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: Sailor, 03-21-2018, 02:34 PM

After years of trying, I finally captured a bird (in this case a gull) in flight this afternoon. More luck than skill, but I can still check off another box in the official list of the requirements for amateur photographers - even if it took until I'm in my dotage!

Your time has been repaid, it looks like an airplane landing, beautiful. Have you ever tried using catch-in-focus?

Thanks much for the kind words. I've never tried "catch-in-focus" - assuming the term means what I think it does.

Thank you, Joi. I wish I could tell you how I did it, but . . . . . . . I don't know myself.

I don't do a lot of wildlife photography, but I'm sure I'll take a swing at BIF again in the future.

Thank you, although luck played a big, big role in this one. We have forum members, such as Susan (slowpez), who can produce wonderful BIF photos with both alacrity and regularity. I am most certainly not in that league.

Nice shot, I'd recommend removing the branch on the bottom right of the photograph. But other than that, it's still a stellar shot. So sharp and so breathtaking.
