You don't see one of these every day...
Posted By: heliphoto, 09-04-2008, 01:16 PM

Snapped from a moving car (I wasn't driving), in the middle of the salt flats between Wendover and Salt Lake City... I think some seeds fell from a passing alien craft on it's way into Dugway, and germinated in the salt...

K200D,Sigma 50-500 @ 138mm, f/8, 1/500 sec.

Due our closing rate it was hard to get an in focus shot, as by the time I or the camera focused we had closed somewhat... between that and the motion blur, it's not a technically great shot... Sure is weird though...

Honestly, it's sure a good thing you don't see that every day.

It's a good thing I don't drive that endless stretch of road every day too!

I think it's communications antennae (there's a bunch of military airspace on both sides of the road, so they may have their commo stuff there or it could be civilian wireless phone repeaters etc...) though I wouldn't rule out alien observation post or plant life from planet Vogsphere.

Yeah for the builder... or did you mean the photographer?

For context, here's another shot of it...

It's the tree of Utah: Metaphor: The Tree of Utah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It just recently got the fence around it.

Well so it is... Maybe it's the fence, but I assumed it was (in addition to being art) a technical installation of some kind.

That thing has a very otherworldly feel about it.

BTW... Ah, crap! Wikipedia has a better picture of a subject than I do ...
