For Those Who Appreciate Aircraft Images
Posted By: Nowhere Matt, 09-04-2008, 01:43 PM

A few highlights from a recent airshow.
I made more than a few embarrassing errors and have since sent the camera for a good cleaning as well but got many I really like. I proudly display these and truly had a difficult time limiting down to these overall favorites.
Taken with the K10 and I am sure most of these were using the 50-200 though I did try to keep up with a 500mm at times.
Previledged to be an American!

I am really surprised how much I will miss my K10 while it is being serviced and find myself somewhat disappointed initially to have to shoot film with my ZX-50 and ZX-60 until the digital comes back.
I use the film cameras for weddings often but for the passed year, probably 95% of my camera work has been digital. I will miss the little bugger.

Nice shots Matt! I'm going down to NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA for the big air show on 20-21 Sep. It was a great show last year and I got some good shots... but this year I have the Bigma and will really be able to reach out and touch em!

A shot from last year... F22

I love air shows, Wasn't able to get to any this year, even though I wanted to. Will have to wait until next year.

Is that was we call a horsefly?

Love the pictures.

It's an early model, The Barn Stormer - 1 horse power - takes two furlongs to get airborne!

Great shots 'Nowhere Matt' - no complaints from me on the whole lot of them.

Thanks for sharing.

Budweiser Cydesdale - indicative of what he did AFTER he shot the airshow.

Great photos! And two of my favorite aircraft - the F15 and P51. Nothing like an F15 in full afterburner

The 7th shot would be the standout for me, although if you didnt crop off the tips of the two props, it would be even better. I don't know too much about WWII era planes, but that wouldnt be a P51 Mustang would it?

@MRRiley: sweet shot of the Raptor

I think the first shot of the F-15 Strike Eagle (number 6) is without a doubt the most powerful and cool shot of an aircraft I have ever taken. I was moving fast trying to get the shots and not previewing any images or data. I thought the sun was bright enough and I wanted to try some things which resulted in such poor exposures, sky colors and contrast on many shots. I could kick myself for not just staying with the basics on so many shots.
The Clydesdales were at the event and are such impressive animals. I saw them removing the 80 pounds of harness riggings from the horses and the open doors of the trailers and knew immediately what shots I wanted to get.
Eagles, Falcons, Mustang, Clydesdales, Thunderbolt and Lightning, Very frightening me. (Galileo.) Galileo. (Galileo.) Galileo, Galileo figaro

Riley's shot of the F-22 is a great one also. The steaming condensation effect and slight blur really give the notion of incredible speed.

I love that shot! It'd look fantastic when blown up on paper!
