Post War Cadillac

As I walked a car show here in Lake Jackson today, I was fascinated with this 1949 (IIRC) Caddy. It has all the Harley Earl touches of the period - tall, lots of chrome and a massive front bumper - which reminded me of my Dad's early '50s straight-eight Pontiacs (or rather pictures of those cars; I do have some memories but they're pretty hazy now).

A beautiful series, Her. The art deco days were such neat times! About 20 years ago, I had a '53 Buick Roadmaster (?). Straight 8 that was so smooth, you couldn't tell if it was still running when I was at a stop sign. And, enough room in the back seat to have a party!

Great photos! Love the old Caddys as well - those chrome bullets on the bumper would become monstrous in a few years . My dad had a '55 ragtop he would haul us around in - great memories.

Oh, that one is very nice and very well recorded. I note that there are no number plates. Well, I don't blame the owner for that because I would be too scared to take it out on the road. Some idiot might run into it.

What a lovely old beast ( the car, not the photographer, you are not old OR a beast Jer !! ). Such beautiful lines on the old cars. About as aerodynamic as a refridgerator, and 6 miles to the gallon, but what a wonderful way to go 6 miles. Once again, great images buddy.

No joke, EM. That would require some serious elbow grease.

Thanks very much! Sounds like your Buick was of the same era as my Dad's Pontiacs.

Thanks, Paul, and I'm glad the shots catalyzed some good memories.

Thank you very much. I imagine this one is driven rarely and with great care.
