Bobby Jindal and Secret service watching
Lens: 55-300 PLM Camera: ks-2 Photo Location: New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints/Pelican owner had his funeral the other day. At his second line Jindal was walking with a priest. I like how between the conversation the visual is of the secret service observing me observing them.

Nice shot. Too bad about the shutter blur. At ISO 100 you had plenty of room for 1/500 or faster. Something to keep in mind for future endeavors.

Didn't even think of settings. Too much going on. I didn't even see him until he passed me.

Right. But when you’re shooting that focal length lens in daylight, you should almost always have shutter speed at a minimum of 1/500.

This is a new combo to me. The RAW was both too dark and too bright. I went to get broad shots of the procession. That was back light. Harsh light with black and white clothes in harsh light. I had the 55-300 with 1.4x on. This was not ideal. Still learning this combo. I was at minimum aperture. I barely pulled the blacks back up , (i think). Really i think if i had time to think it thru i would have gone 360 shutter. I think by 500 his chin would be almost noise.
Photos were extra since being in the second line and being part of the event was more important. I shot almost all of my 20 photos with sunlight behind the subjects. I really had to pull up blacks. Yet i did have to really pull down whites. I guess dynamic range was about 15 not 10.

Like I said, it's a nice shot. In my growing pains using cameras (I don't dare call myself a photographer) I've found it useful to keep an eye on the shutter speed at all times. That's all. Too many blurry disappointments. Just trying to help.

I appreciate it. I am going to go out in conditions like this again now just to learn more about what i can do with the camera. Normally i would just avoid those conditions.

Body guard. I don't think the U.S. Secret Service has any responsibility for Jindal under current circumstances.
