I might be showing my age but I remember these types of washing machines.

Yep, we had a maytag washer and 2 rinse tubs on the back porch. My brother and I had to fill everything with the garden hose, and yes, my brother caught his fingers in the wringer once, and only once. Guess he was a fast learner.

I used to love wash day when I was a little girl because I got to catch the clothes coming through the wringer & stack them for hanging on the line. I can still smell the mixture of detergent, bleach & bluing. And it too was a Maytag! Nice shot - those machines are in fantastic shape!

Bluing! Oh my goodness.... YES! If I remember correctly, it was Mrs. Stewarts.... right?

Yep for me too, I was 10, my whole arm went up to my elbow, the rollers must have been spring loaded as there was no lasting damage!!

Me too ! I remember my parents having one similar. Must have been late 1940s - - early 1950s.
