First Attempt at Photographing Northern Lights
Lens: Sigma 10-20 Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Whitehorse, Canada ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/20s

Dream come true to see the Northern Lights recently and didn't quite know what I was doing to photograph them so be gentle with your comments. :-) Also, I recently let my Lightroom subscription lapse so am trying DXO - and I sure don't know what I'm doing there... but sharing for comments. Thanks! I really loved Whitehorse and highly recommend it.

I think you did an amazing job, snow makes it hard when doing long exposures when there is any light behind you, giving the lighted foreground. Good job! Hope it wasn't too cold when you were out shooting.

I think that's a pretty solid attempt, especially for the first time

Thanks! We rented winter clothing so we were warm. This was at Southern Lakes Resort and we were standing on a frozen lake to take the photos.

Thank you very much - I want to go back again someday with maybe a faster wide angle lens.

ha, ha... most of the time I think I'm just more persistent than most, not more talented. But none the less, thats a very good first effort.
