Photographing Strangers
Lens: Pentax 28-125 Camera: Pentax K-1 Photo Location: China ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F8

The "fabric pot" she was wearing was what attracted me. Sitting on a young lass' head, I thought allocating a few pixels just for the record may be a good idea.

This was taken in China and in the absence of adequate communication skills I intimated my desire to photograph her with hand gestures.
She was in to it immediately. After a first few shots she could not contain herself and started to laugh uncontrollably (I was not quick enough for that and the shot did not turn out too well) But then she composed herself for a few more shots.

Cheers

I like these! And admire your effort... I don't think I'd try this.

I see something in these sort of pictures and it appears you do too.
Thanks

You have to tell me why not.

I have to be honest, I am no great fan of carefully planned studio portrait photography.
The result often looks contrived to me despite of all the effort to make it natural looking. Somehow I can tell. I know there is a place for studio photography but it is just not for me. I rather be out and about and "ambush" people.

I prefer natural light photography and take pictures of people as they are, where they feel comfortable in their everyday surroundings. It is surprising to see how relaxed people can be in these situations. Among others, streets are fertile grounds. For those type of shots I always ask and knock-backs are very rare. I always show them what I have taken.

Thanks
