The Work of our Hands
Lens: Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH Camera: Leica M-P Digital Rangefinder Photo Location: Manhattan
Posted By: oculus, 2 Days Ago

"At the enchanted metropolitan twilight I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others—poor young clerks who loitered in front of windows waiting until it was time for a solitary restaurant dinner—young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most poignant moments of night and life."

That first shot I find poignant, well done...

Delicta maiorum inmeritus lues,
Romane, donec templa refeceris
aedisque labentis deorum et
foeda nigro simulacra fumo.

I'm drawn to the last one. The photo broadcasts a sense of resigned weariness - perhaps she had just filed her income tax.

Seriously, I think it's a very cool image.

Thanks. Unfortunately the branded T-shirt makes the photograph unviable, but I like it too. I am getting better at zone focus with the 50 mm. The benefit of 50 mm lenses at this focal distance of about five or 6 feet is that action is isolated and there’s less of a risk for unwanted content. I think wide-angle street photography is becoming a cliché.

Thanks. That shot really shows off the character of this lens. It has a cinematic quality at F5.6.
