Cross posted to the 300 plus club.

The beaver pond.

K-3 and Tamron 300 2.8 and F 1.7 AF adapter.

It's possible beavers do something besides eat this time of year, but I'm not sure what it might be.

Apparently they also spent some time working on the 4 dams these guys maintain. Others have photographed them there. I spent over an hour there and only saw them eating.

My old heavy blind was too heavy to be portable, my new one I can carry. SO I was set up on the ice (which is still solid enough to bear my weight, in the blind with a very light jacket on, it was just toasty. The only way to get these images without the ice is to sit in a swamp, later in the year. Personally, the cold and ice gives me opportunities I wouldn't have later in the year. As well the ice restricts the beavers access to the shoreline making it much easier to predict where they will come out of the water, and reduces the area they have to swim in., making it easier to locate them. This is the best time of year for beavers, otters mink and other water dwelling creatures.

Nice shots... strangely enough I've never seen a beaver in the wild. Not many of them in this part of the world!

I hear that the "Beaver Corps of Engineers" is an important adjunct to Otis's team.
