Sultanate of Oma
Camera: Pentax K-3 Photo Location: Oman
Posted By: Schraubstock, 04-28-2018, 04:25 AM

The Sultanate of Oman has just last month opened its new huge super modern Muscat International Airport.
Reading this has prompted me to re-visit my Oman archive and pull out some photographs which I will share with you.
Hope you like them and perhaps even prompt you to visit one day because it is a super friendly nation, save and you will never get ripped off.

The last pic is of Ali my personal chauffeur for three days showing me his country, a real gentleman.

Greetings

P.S.
The EXIF says "Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM" I do not know where this comes from, I don't own such a lens.
Pics were all taken with the "Tamron 24-135 1:3.5-5.6"

Wonderful series. Interesting, indeed.

Thanks to both of you.
I thought I put these up for viewing as I think not too many people either do not want to go there or don't have the opportunity to visit.

Sultan Qaboos In 1996 created a new constitution that guaranteed press freedom and promised there would be “no discrimination amongst [people] on the ground of gender, origin, color, language, religion, sect, domicile, or social status.”

So far Oman has been able to stay away from all the trouble plaguing the middle east.

Cheers

I could see Masirah as a smudge on the horizon once while on board a naval vessel in the Persian Gulf, way back in time, but they never let us stop for a visit. Great images of what I missed!

I agree, not a lot is known about Oman but they are keen to promote tourism for when the oil wells runs dry

Actually they do and I am pretty much a homebody these days. I think it would be great to visit when there is two feet of snow here!

Nice shots that bring back some good memories. I've been to Oman several times and agree with you on the friendliness of the Omanis. It's very scenic with some nice beaches and Muscat is a pleasure. Did you make it to Niswa? That was a real highlight for us.

Yes I did. From there I went to Bahla City and the ancient Bahla Fort. Bahla oasis has lots of very old mud-brick ruins some dating back to the12th centurey .

Cheers
